6th week: -2 marks Empty
PostSubject: 6th week: -2 marks   6th week: -2 marks I_icon_minitimeSat Oct 30, 2010 12:20 pm

for those of you who failed to register or did not post the second, third, fourth and fifth week,
or even registered but with a name written with errors or without stating ur class.
I am sorry to say that you have lost the bonus and also lost 2 marks. pale
This also include the ladies who corrected their names and failed to tell me on time.

Post here after you registered with (your name written in Arabic + class )before i cut more marks.
cheers

How to Write Your name???
1- First Names:

Starts with capital Letter and the rest are small, for example: Amal.
A <--- Capital
(mal) <--- small

Wrong ways to write it : amal, AMAL, AmaL .. etc.

Question:
1- My name ends with a (ة) how can i write it?
.:. well, let's say your name is (نورة) . You can write it as : Noura or Nourah. It's a personal preference.

2- My name starts with (ع). Do I have to write it as A ?
.:. Depends on how you pronounce it. Take those names for example:
(عُهود) will be: Ohoud
(عَفاف) will be: Afaf
(عِتاب) will be: Etab

3- My name has (الـ). How to write it?
.:. like we write Family names.

2- Family Names:

There are three kinds I know of family names in Riyadh:

A. Starts with (الـ) for example: (المهيدب) we write it as (Al-Mohaideb).
(A)capital
(l) small L
(-)dash NOT underscore
(M) capital
(ohaideb) small letters

Wrong ways to write it: AL MOHAIDEB , AL-Mohaideb, Al_Mohaideb, al-mohaideb, almohaideb

B. Starts with (ابا) or (أبو) for example: (أبا حسين) we write it as ِ (Aba Hessien).
(A) capital
(ba) small letters
( ) space with not dash or underscore
(H) capital
(essien) small letters

C. Family names that have no article at the beginning like (حجاج) we write it as ِ (Hajjaj).
(H)capital
(ajjaj) small letters

Questions:

1- My family name ends with (ي) should i put (i) or (y)?
.:. It is a personal preference. Both are correct.

2- My hospital card has my name different from what you told me.
Don't the doctors know what they are doing?
.:. The doctors are very good but the ones who write the names are nurses who are not Arabic to begin with! If they can't pronounce it your name, how can they write it properly?
Also, they are not specialized in English. So they make the effort ans sometimes it's wrong.
Most common problem is with names that have (ع) like (العنزي). They write it as (Al-Anzi) which is wrong because this is read like the name is derived from (عَنز) the goat . It should be (Al-Enezi) which is derived from (عنيزة),the city.

==============================
REMEMBER:
-1-
Do not put a full stop at the end of your name.
a full stop comes after a sentence or an abbreviation . afro
-2-
Do not leave a space inside one name like : (Al - Mohaideb) correct way is : Al-Mohaideb
or like : ( A m a l ) --> (Amal)
-3-
For God sake, write your name in English !!!
Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
